Behind the Scenes at Aqua Boat Club
There’s a lot of curiosity around ABC’s trailerless launch system and signature stacker crane.
If you have ever wondered what happens after you hit ‘book’ on Boat Cloud to select your launch time, wonder no more — the following is a behind-the-scenes peek at ABC’s futuristic operations.
Step 1: When you book your launch time on Boat Cloud, our team is set in motion.
Step 2: The semi-automated custom Capria stacker crane gently lifts your vessel from its slip and carries it to the staging area at the front of the boathouse.
The crane is a feat of global engineering — it was designed in Germany to ABC’s specifications, built in Argentina, and shipped by sea to Vancouver before being freighted to Kelowna for assembly. It’s the first of its kind in Canada!
Step 3: Your vessel is picked up by a trailerless hydraulic Conolift and brought to the loading dock. Another team member steps in to ensure you’re gassed up, stocked with ice, and ready to launch upon your arrival.
Step 4: Upon your arrival, simply step up the loading dock and into your boat. Once you’re settled, our team will do the rest and drive you the short distance to the launch where we’ll set you in the water and on your way.
It takes a well-coordinated team to make this look easy, especially when launching upwards of 75 boats per day during peak periods. To inquire about moorage or boat sharing at ABC, fill out the contact form here!
