CARPENTER/CONSTRUCTION WORKER

Mission Group is seeking a Carpenter/Construction Worker to join one of our high-rise construction projects in downtown Kelowna, BC. The Carpenter will perform all duties related to carpentry on-site as directed by the Site Superintendent. The ideal candidate has a high attention to detail, experience working on residential, high-rise projects and shares our commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.

What you’ll do:
- Follow construction plans and schedules
- Read and interpret blueprints, plumbing / mech/electrical drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
- Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moldings and hardware
- Attend and participate in toolbox and safety committee meetings
- Assist site teams with carpentry projects, organize, use necessary tools, nailers, saws, etc.
- Maintain a professional calm, willing, positive relationship with coworkers and subtrades
- Work with subtrades for back framing
What you’ll have:
- Minimum 4 years experience in residential construction
- Diploma in a skilled trade such as carpentry is a strong asset
- Red/gold seal certification is considered an asset
- Strong knowledge in building and construction
- Strong attention to detail
- Dedication to safety and safe work procedures
- Able to work long hours and weekends when needed
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to lift and hold 40lbs
