Interior Design Consultant

Mission Group has a great opportunity for a highly motivated and organized Interior Designer to join the team on a contract or part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of design and execution experience in the real estate industry. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, this creative individual will have the opportunity to work with our team of skilled Development Managers on a portfolio of Mission Group communities including mixed-use, multi-family residential, and commercial spaces throughout the Okanagan.

As a part-time position, the hours can range anywhere from 20-30 per week. The successful candidate will work out of our head office to collaborate with the team, with travel to sites as required. The hourly wage range is between $31.50 – $42.00, depending on skills and experience.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define project requirements, budgets, and design objectives with direction from the Development Manager.
  • Work with an external Interior Designer to integrate interior suite design into the overall design concept including color boards, material samples, and interior elevations, focused on suite finishes for both condo and rental projects.
  • Refine and finalize interior suite designs during the development phase, covering all aspects such as:
    • Floors, walls, and ceiling finishes
    • Millwork, trim, and hardware details
    • Lighting fixtures and layouts, plumbing fixtures, and tile patterns
    • Kitchen and Bathroom accessories
    • Signage for common areas and suites
  • Oversee, monitor, and manage design considerations for shared areas, including pet wash stations, bike repair rooms, waste management facilities, storage rooms, etc. interfacing with internal MG stakeholders as necessary.
  • Conduct furniture research and recommend appropriate options for shared spaces, such as coworking areas, lobbies, fitness rooms, lounges, entertainment rooms, and rental offices.
  • Manage procurement, delivery, and installation of approved furniture and accessories for designated spaces in conjunction with the Mission Group construction team.
  • Respond to design revisions as needed, ensuring alignment with project and organizational goals.
  • Review all requested interior finish alternates for common areas and amenity spaces including finish submittals, shop drawings, etc. during the construction phase
  • Schematic Design and Design Development scope including finishes selection for the display suite
  • Provide materials list, plumbing list, bathroom accessories list, appliances list, lighting list (decorative fixtures only) for the display suite

What You Will Bring:

  • Proven experience in interior design coordination, including conceptual, schematic, and detailed design development.
  • Strong ability to create and communicate detailed design presentations using sketches, elevations, and sample boards.
  • Expertise in design elements such as finishes, millwork, hardware, plumbing, and lighting specifications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of space planning, signage requirements, and furniture selection.
  • Project management skills to coordinate timelines, budgets, and stakeholder feedback effectively.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail to deliver high-quality designs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to liaise with teams and clients.
