An invitation inside, and into a story.

What does it look like to honour more than two decades of shaping a city, while keeping our gaze on the future with intention? At our new headquarters in downtown Kelowna, the answer is both architectural and deeply personal.

As visitors make their way into the sunlit entryway at our HQ, they are immediately immersed in a sculptural installation that feels less like art and more like atmosphere. Overhead, a series of curved wooden ribs ripple across the ceiling, echoing the fluid movement of water. Suspended above the reception desk, the subtle outline of a boat gives the composition its narrative core: a moment captured from beneath the surface of Okanagan Lake, as if viewed from the lakebed looking upward into shifting light and rippling wake.

Along the adjacent wall, where the imagined water meets land, the story expands. A handcrafted map of Kelowna’s downtown grid — rendered in warm walnut veneer — stretches across the vertical plane, seamlessly integrated into the curvature above. The piece is both sculpture and structure, deeply embedded in the architecture of the space.

Built by those who Build it Forward.

The idea for a sculptural entryway was conceived by CEO Jonathan Friesen and meticulously designed by VP of Development, Sarang Gokhale. Each piece was sequentially installed by the careful hands of our own construction team. It’s a quiet mile-marker — a physical reflection of Mission Group’s growth over the past twenty years, and a gesture toward the future still unfolding. The piece is a physical manifestation of the principles that have long shaped our work: a deep-rooted love for this region, carefully-envisioned detail, and the unique joy that arises from bringing concept to reality with our own two hands.

Every contour is intentional. Together, each piece of this sculpture tells a spatial narrative of transformation, rooted in the land and shaped by time — a tribute to our Build It Forward ethos.

Step inside — the legacy’s still unfolding.

This is not an artwork meant to be observed at a distance. Like much of what we do, it is architectural in nature — a space to be moved through, passed beneath, and experienced. A threshold into our home, both literal and symbolic.

At once grounded and aspirational, the piece reflects a guiding principle that underpins this Artisan Series and dates back to our company’s very beginnings: that when built with purpose, the spaces we inhabit can hold memories, movement, and meaning — all at once.
