Kelowna for Kids: Fun Activities for the Whole Family

April 30, 2021

Families will never be bored in Kelowna thanks to the multitude of activities available for all ages. These are some of the best family-friendly activities in the Okanagan.

With so many fun activities to do year-round, Kelowna could definitely be considered one of the most family-friendly cities in Canada. Okanagan Lake may be a major source of enjoyment with its beaches and water sports, but beyond that, there are countless things to do outdoors and indoors including adventure parks, petting zoos, and even escape rooms. Whether you’re looking to entertain little ones or teenagers, these are some of our favourite things to do in Kelowna at any age.

Myra Canyon Adventure Park

Set in the beautiful Myra Canyon just 20 minutes outside Kelowna, the Myra Canyon Adventure Park has rope climbing courses, zip lines, balance boards, and nets that will keep kids from ages three and up entertained for hours. Families can also use the BBQs, firepits, and picnic tables to fuel up in between the adrenaline-pumping activities.

Kangaroo Creek Farm

Experience Australia without having to take an hours-long flight at Kangaroo Creek Farm. The farm is home to a multitude of exotic creatures from Down Under including red kangaroos, wallabies, emu, and capybara. Visitors can feed and pet the animals and learn all about their diet, habitat, and more from the friendly guides.

Ogopogo Parasail

Get a bird’s eye view of Lake Okanagan and downtown Kelowna on an exhilarating parasailing ride with Ogopogo Parasail. You can opt for a solo flight, a tandem flight with two people, or triple your fun with a three-person flight. Just let the boat captain know if you want to stay dry or cool off with a few gentle dips in the lake.

EnergyPlex

If it’s raining in Kelowna, EnergyPlex is a great place for kids to have some fun and get some exercise at the same time. This huge entertainment centre spans four stories and has tons of activities on offer including trampolines, rock climbing walls, rope climbing walls, a laser tag arena, and arcade. Parents are also welcome to join in the fun.

Kelowna Stables

Located in the Myra Canyon Lodge and Ranch, Kelowna Stables invites family members of all ages to explore winding forested trails on horseback. Beginner riders and little ones can experience easy-going walks with horses on leads, while more experienced riders can take half-day trips along trails with incredible views of the lake and valley.

Exit Kelowna

Older kids will love solving riddles and puzzles as they try to beat the clock and make their way out of the escape rooms at Exit Kelowna. There are four different rooms to choose from, each with its own exciting theme. Families can work together to find pirate treasure, contain a biohazard, concoct a potion for a mad professor, or escape a haunted house.
